Today I sit quietly while my baby naps beside me and my little one plays quietly at my feet. I have been thinking about the next year and what it will hold for our family. I am not too big on the idea of New Years resolutions because I barely follow through but I like the idea of having some goals to look forward too. Most of the goals I am thinking about are home related. Ways to make my home life easier so that I am making the most of my time with my children and not falling behind on the housework and meal prep. We are still working on our family rhythm incorporating a few new changes to our days every week. The little one doesn't do well with change, so we are changing things gradually and hopefully in the next few months we will be where we want to be as a family.
We are embracing more and more Waldorf Philosophy for our family as it fits within our family values and belief. Books like this and this have really helped us in our journey. I have found two Waldorf early childhood programs that we are going to implement into our daily rhythm with the little ones.
Another goal that is just as important as the above mentioned ones is taking time out for self care. Being a stay at home mom can be tough work and I am starting to feel burned out. I forget to take time for myself because there is just so much to do. I feel I am never without the little ones. It is hard to even schedule a bath, creative time for me, a hair cut or even a dentist appointment. Claire not willing to take a bottle is another challenge we face which leads me to go nowhere by myself. Things need to change so we are working on some strategies so that I can make some time for myself.
Some other goals I would like to work on are:
- simplify our home so that we only surrounded by things that have meaning to us and our beautiful
- Incorporate some more everyday rituals and family traditions to our life. (Example: family art night, a Saturday family outing, and maybe a nice Sunday family dinner where we bring cook a more elaborate meal.
- Write more consistently in my journal and gratitude journal. I am still loving this book
- Meal planning and grocery shopping more efficiently
What are some of your goals for the New Year?
I hope that you all have a wonderful New Years Eve and I wish you all the best in the New Year. For those readers who have stuck around through my absence, thank you so much for the support you have shown me over the last year. I am definitely hoping to be in this space more frequently over the next year:)
